The workshop, which proposes four days of design experiments in the medieval village of Belmonte Calabro (CS), is coordinated by the London Metropolitan University (Sir John Cass College of Art) and by the University of Mediterranean Studies of Reggio Calabria with Landscape_in Progress and the collective of Horizontal architecture, awarded to the “Young Talent of Italian Architecture 2018” of the Venice Biennale. The workshop is conceived as a CREATIVE BUILDING SITE in which 20 students from the two universities will design and implement, together with migrants and local workers, ephemeral structures in the Municipal Library in Piazza Galeazzo di Tarsia and in the municipal structure in Via Giuseppe Ianni, through a process of social cohesion as evidence of inclusion and urban regeneration. The work will be presented in a final event to the local community on February 7th from 7:30 pm. The initiative is in continuity with the research and teaching activities carried out by the #seppie with London Met University in the center of Belmonte Calabro with the The aim is to focus on two phenomena: the depopulation of small and inner urban centers and the migratory flows of the Mediterranean.
